This evening, I decided to make myself some tea with the herbs from my herb garden. Teagan decided he wanted some too (my faithful tea drinking buddy!) We both chose a different kind of tea.

I chose a blend of borage flowers and lemon balm leaves

And Teagan chose...

Yes folks...

that's a radish.

We started by steeping our choices of tea.

Because the materials we used are fresh from the garden, the next step is to strain.

Look at the change in the radishes!
Most of the color and flavor has been steeped into Teagan's tea.

Next Teagan poured it into mugs. It didn't seem right to drink hot tea in a mason jar.

The next step was to try our homegrown tea.

Teagan took my picture (my tea was really good by the way)

Teagan tries the radish tea

Thanks for joining us for tea!!

Recipe for Homegrown Tea
~

Makes two servings

 You will need:
Fresh herbs (or radishes)
Boiling water
Two mugs
Two glasses (for straining)
Strainer

For herbs, simply rinse them then fill your mug about halfway.
For radishes, wash your radish then cut into small chunks.
Pour boiling water over herbs - or radishes - and let steep for five to ten minutes. Strain tea into glasses, then pour back into mugs.
Teagan suggests a little sweetener in the radish tea.

Enjoy!
